The Fourth West Asian Para Games

The Qatari national team for athletes with disabilities clinched four medals, including two silvers and two bronzes, at the beginning of its journey in the Fourth West Asian Para Games, currently taking place in the city of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The games will continue until Feb. 3, with the participation of 513 athletes representing 12 countries competing in 7 sports: athletics, table tennis, badminton, goalball, wheelchair basketball, boccia, and powerlifting.

The four medals were won in athletics competitions, where player Ali Radi Ashid won the silver medal in the wheelchair race for 400 meters and also earned the bronze medal in the wheelchair race for 100 meters. Additionally, player Abdulrahman Abdulqader secured the bronze medal in the javelin throw competition, while player Sarah Masoud also achieved the silver medal in the javelin throw competition.

In the goalball competition, the Qatari team defeated the UAE team with a score of 15-5, then lost to the Jordanian team with a score of 2-12, and finally beat the Omani team with a score of 9-5. The Qatari delegation will also participate in the Sharjah International Open Para Athletics Meeting from Feb. 3-6.

The Qatari Para team aims to achieve more victories in the championship, increase its medal tally, and stand on the winner's podium while proudly raising the Qatari flag at this continental event.

The West Asian Para Games include the participation of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Yemen.
