Qatar Reaffirms Support for Pakistan Led Mediation

Qatar backs Pakistan‑led mediation on Iran–US ceasefire

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al‑Ansari said Tuesday,14 April 2026, that the entire region is engaged in supporting Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at ending the US–Israel war on Iran. Speaking at the weekly press briefing in Doha, Al‑Ansari emphasized that Qatar remains in close coordination with Islamabad as negotiations continue to be discussed.

ā€œWe remain in contact with our brothers in Pakistan who are leading the mediation,ā€ Al‑Ansari noted, highlighting the series of calls and reciprocal visits between Pakistani and Qatari officials in recent weeks. He stressed that these exchanges reflect a broader regional commitment to backing Pakistan’s initiative.

Al‑Ansari clarified that Qatar’s role is one of support and coordination rather than direct mediation. ā€œWe applaud Pakistan’s efforts and support their leadership in this process. Beyond this, I am unaware of any specific role we are playing other than contributing to regional coordination,ā€ he said.

The spokesperson added that Qatar is awaiting official confirmation from Pakistan regarding the next round of talks in Islamabad. ā€œAny assessment of the role of other countries is not part of the discussion at the moment. What I can assure you is that we are supporting the Pakistani‑led mediation,ā€ he concluded.

His remarks underscore Qatar’s position as a regional partner in de‑escalation efforts, while placing the responsibility for mediation firmly with Pakistan.
