Qatar has been named the safest country in the Middle East and the 8th safest globally for expatriates in 2025, according to a report by the Expatriate Group. The study assessed 128 countries using the Global Peace Index, Crime Rate Index, and natural disaster risk data to rank overall safety for expats.
The report highlighted Qatar’s low crime rate, ranked second globally with a Crime Index of just 16.0, and its minimal natural disaster risks due to its geographical location. Unlike many countries, Qatar is not prone to earthquakes, hurricanes, or floods, though occasional sandstorms are effectively managed with public safety protocols.
Qatar is also recognized for its robust security infrastructure, including a well-trained police force, advanced surveillance systems, and proactive crime prevention measures. Additionally, the nation fosters a harmonious multicultural environment, promoting tolerance and mutual respect among residents and visitors.
Among GCC nations, Bahrain ranks next at 13th, followed by Kuwait (15th), Oman (24th), UAE (30th), and Saudi Arabia (54th).
Qatar’s commitment to safety and security continues to position it as a top destination for expats seeking a safe and welcoming environment.
