Qatar Handball Team Wins Their First Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifier

In the Asian men's handball qualifiers for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024), the Qatari handball team secured a notable victory by defeating the Chinese team with a score of 34/25. The competition began on October 18, 2023, at the Duhail Sports Hall and will continue until October 28, 2023.
 
Qatar's team demonstrated strength and control, leading by four goals at halftime (17/13) and extending their dominance in the second half, ultimately winning with a nine-goal margin and marking their first victory in the qualifiers.
 
In the next round on October 19, 2023, Qatar's team will face the Indian team, which suffered a loss in their first match to the Saudi team with a score of 17/46.
 
Only the top team in the qualifiers secures a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, while the runner-up advances to a playoff round in March.
 
This marks Qatar's second attempt at securing an Olympic qualification, following their achievement in qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil, a historic moment for Qatari handball after topping the qualifiers held in Doha in 2015.
 
The Asian men's handball qualifiers for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024) in Doha feature 11 participating teams divided into two groups. The first group includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the Emirates, India, and China. The second group comprises Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Japan, and Kazakhstan.
 
The first and second teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals on October 26, where the top team from the first group will compete against the second team from the second group, and vice versa. The two winners from the semi-finals will advance to the final match on October 28, 2023, to compete for an Olympic qualification spot for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
 
It's worth noting that this is the third consecutive time that Qatar has hosted the Asian men's handball qualifiers for the Olympic Games. They hosted the qualifiers for the Rio 2016 Olympics in 2015 and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers in 2019.
