In the meantime, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) confirmed in conjunction with UEFA and CONMEBOL that the Qatar Football Festival 2026 has been cancelled over continuing airspace disruption throughout the region and travel restrictions put in place.

Accordingly, the programme for events in Qatar, including the Finalissima Qatar 2026™ between Lionel Messi’s Argentina and Lamine Yamal’s Spain at Lusail Stadium scheduled to take place in Doha will no longer be held as planned.

The organisers said the decision had been made as "current travel disruptions have significantly impacted" many fans, players and officials' travel ability. It was mutually agreed that it would be the most appropriate course of action to relocate the match at this time.

Despite the cancellation, the LOC said it looks forward to future opportunities to host events with UEFA and CONMEBOL in Qatar.

Fans who bought tickets for the Qatar Football Festival will automatically receive full refunds to their original method of payment within 30 days. If they are not, fans should contact support@tickets.roadtoqatar.qa for further assistance.

Refund arrangements will be made with international fans who booked travel packages via tour operators. The organisers have urged fans to continue listening to official sources for more information.
