Qatar fines delivery platform for unauthorized discount promotions

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced legal action against a delivery company operating an electronic platform after it was found to have advertised discounts without securing the required license.

According to the ministry, the violation involved announcing reduced‑price sales without prior approval from the Department of Specialized Licensing and Market Control. The case was handled under Minister of Economy and Commerce Decision No. 311 of 2018, which regulates promotional sales and discount campaigns.

The company has been referred to the relevant authorities, with a financial penalty of QAR 10,000 imposed. Officials stressed that the enforcement reflects Qatar’s commitment to safeguarding consumer rights, ensuring transparency in market transactions, and maintaining fair competition.

The ministry reaffirmed that inspection campaigns will continue to be intensified to detect and address violations, while encouraging consumers to report irregularities.
