Qatar'sĀ Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al‑Thani, received a phone call on Monday, 1 June 2026,Ā  from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which the two officials reviewed ongoing diplomatic initiatives and regional developments.

The discussion centered on Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at bridging differences between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, with both sides assessing the prospects for a comprehensive agreement that could ease tensions and bring an end to the current crisis. The leaders also exchanged views on the evolving situation in Lebanon, underscoring the importance of constructive engagement to safeguard stability.

Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for mediation and dialogue, stressing that the only path to a durable settlement lies in all parties committing to negotiations in good faith. A key point raised during the call was the issue of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
