Qatar launches tech‑driven mosquito control with drones and smart systems
The Ministry of Municipality has unveiled a comprehensive, technologyādriven strategy to combat mosquito proliferation, reinforcing Qatarās broader commitment to environmental sustainability and public health.
HE Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali, Undersecretary at the Ministry, announced that drone aircraft are now being deployed to conduct spraying operations across vast and hardātoāreach areas, significantly enhancing coverage and operational efficiency.
The integrated plan also introduces the use of Gambusia fish, a species known for feeding on mosquito larvae in stagnant water, alongside a smart electronic system designed to manage and monitor field teams in real time. This combination of biological and digital solutions reflects Qatarās innovative approach to pest control.
Since the beginning of the year, the ministry has responded to more than 25,000 requests, underscoring the scale of the challenge and the intensity of ongoing efforts to safeguard community health. Officials emphasized that the initiative demonstrates Qatarās proactive stance in harnessing advanced technologies to address environmental and public health concerns.
