Qatar Creates & F1's Pierre Gasly: Custom Racing Helmets

Qatar Creates, a movement dedicated to curating, celebrating, and promoting cultural activities in Qatar, has revealed two specially crafted racing helmets in collaboration with Qatari artists and Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly from the Renault Alpine Team. Designed by Qatari artists Shouq Al Mana and Alanoud Al Ghamdi, these helmets beautifully merge sports and culture through intricate artwork.

The first helmet, designed by Alanoud Al Ghamdi, draws inspiration from the desert's flora, fauna, nomadic heritage, and enduring traditions. Incorporating textures inspired by sand, the colors of the Qatari flag, Arabic calligraphy, and the cultural symbol of the horse, this design is deeply rooted in Qatar's national identity.

In a philanthropic effort to impact the local community, Qatar Creates and Pierre Gasly will auction off Alanoud Al Ghamdi's helmet after it is worn in the main race on October 8th. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to charity. Additionally, Qatar Creates plans to produce a limited edition of three hundred premium 1:2 scale replicas of the design. These replicas will be available for purchase on INQ’s website and at select Qatar Museum Gift Shops, offering Formula 1 enthusiasts and art lovers alike a chance to own a piece of this unique collaboration.

Shouq Al Mana's creation, the second helmet, skillfully integrates the Egal, a fundamental element of Qatari traditional attire symbolizing the nation's heritage and identity. This helmet will be worn during the qualifier and sprint events and later exhibited at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

In anticipation of hosting F1 for the next ten years, the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will present a special exhibition titled "The Race Begins: Formula 1 Exhibition" from October 6th to October 8th, 2023, at The Paddock Club, Lusail International Circuit. This exhibition will offer F1 ticketholders a chance to explore significant artifacts from F1 history, such as the Ferrari F1-2000 Formula 1 Racing car, driven by Michael Schumacher to victory in the 2000 European Grand Prix races, and the inaugural helmet worn by F1 legend Ayrton Senna. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to view the original Pink Convertible Big by Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, a piece recently acquired by the upcoming Qatar Auto Museum.

This collaboration between Pierre Gasly and Qatar Creates further establishes Qatar as a pioneering force in the arts and culture landscape. It underscores the strong link between the sports and art sectors, reflecting the nation's thriving creative environment. This event coincides with the upcoming opening of the Qatar Auto Museum, which aims to become a hub for culture and innovation. The museum will showcase a vibrant global car culture community through an unparalleled collection of automobiles and interactive exhibitions. These

experiences will bring together visionaries, designers, engineers, collectors, and policymakers, all bound by their shared passion for cars.

The official unveiling of the Pierre Gasly x Qatar Creates helmets occurred on October 6th, 2023, coinciding with the commencement of the Qatar Grand Prix. Fans can follow this exciting journey and gain an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse by following Pierre Gasly on Instagram at @pierregasly and @teamgasly.
