Qatar Charity delivers 198,000 meals to ease humanitarian suffering in Gaza

Backed by the generosity of donors in Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has completed a major humanitarian intervention in the Gaza Strip, distributing 198,000 ready‑to‑eat meals between March 20 and June 7, 2026. The initiative was designed to ease the suffering of patients, medical staff, and displaced families amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.

The meals, which included pastries, baked goods, and juices, were delivered to hospitals and health centers in northern Gaza, targeting patients as well as medical and administrative teams. In addition, more than 40,000 meals were distributed to internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in camps, providing immediate relief to families facing daily hardship.

Qatar Charity emphasized that the project aims to strengthen food security, improve conditions in health facilities, and help sustain essential services. Despite the cessation of the war in October 2025, humanitarian conditions remain dire. According to UN reports, nearly 1.6 million people, around 77 percent of Gaza’s population, continue to suffer from acute food insecurity, with children and women among the most vulnerable.

Data from the World Health Organization’s Nutrition Cluster partners show that almost one in five children under five in Gaza is affected by acute malnutrition. Furthermore, more than 40 percent of pregnant and breastfeeding women face similar risks, underscoring the severity of the nutritional crisis.

This latest intervention is part of Qatar Charity’s broader support for Gaza. Over the two years of war and blockade (2023–2025), QC implemented integrated programs across food, health, education, water, and shelter, benefiting more than five million people at a total cost of approximately QAR 243 million.
