Qatar Career Development Center Wraps Up Eighth Edition of ‘My Career – My Future’ Job Shadowing

Doha: The Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation, has successfully concluded the eighth edition of its flagship “My Career – My Future” job shadowing programme, providing hundreds of high school students with valuable first-hand exposure to professional workplaces across Qatar.

Held from August 2 to 6, the five-day initiative brought together more than 350 students from public and private schools, making it the largest edition of the programme to date. The initiative was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, reflecting a collaborative national effort to prepare young people for the evolving labour market.

The programme combined orientation workshops, career guidance sessions, and immersive job shadowing experiences, enabling participants to observe professionals in real work environments and gain practical insight into a wide range of industries. Students visited leading organisations across sectors including healthcare, aviation, banking, technology, media, transport, engineering, cybersecurity, and public services.

A key highlight of this year’s edition was its strong emphasis on inclusion. For the first time, the programme welcomed students with disabilities and additional learning needs, reinforcing QCDC’s commitment to ensuring equal access to career development opportunities. It also included students from Assalam Schools through a collaboration with the Education Above All Foundation.

Throughout the week, participants developed a deeper understanding of workplace expectations, professional skills, and career pathways while interacting directly with experts from more than 30 sectors represented by 33 host organisations. The experience was designed to help students make informed decisions about their future academic and career journeys while strengthening their readiness for higher education and employment.

The programme concluded with a closing ceremony and a university fair, allowing students to connect their workplace experiences with future study opportunities and explore higher education options available in Qatar.

QCDC said the initiative continues to support Qatar’s long-term vision of developing skilled national talent by bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world employment, equipping young people with the knowledge and confidence needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive labour market.
