Qatar Airways Group has announced a major milestone in its recovery and growth strategy, restoring its network to 85% of pre-crisis levels. The achievement comes with the launch of the airline's Summer 2026 schedule, featuring more than 140 daily departures from Doha to over 160 destinations worldwide. The recovery target was set earlier this year during a period of regional disruption that significantly impacted operations.


To support its next phase of expansion, Qatar Airways has also introduced two new executive leadership positions aimed at strengthening operational performance and enhancing the customer experience. The airline's strategy focuses on delivering world-class service, expanding passenger and cargo networks, and investing in workforce development and future talent.


New Executive Appointments


Chief Operating Officer (COO)

 

  • Abdulla Ali has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer.

  • Previously served as Senior Vice President of Ground Services.

  • Will oversee operational functions across the Group.

  • Focus areas include safety, accountability, efficiency, and performance.


Chief Customer Officer (CCO)

 

  • Calum Laming has been appointed as Chief Customer Officer.

  • Former Chief Customer Officer at British Airways.

  • Previously held senior customer-focused roles at Etihad Airways and Air New Zealand.

  • Will lead customer experience, brand consistency, and service excellence initiatives.

Group Chief Executive Officer Hamad Al-Khater stated that the appointments reflect the airline's commitment to accelerating growth while placing customers at the center of every decision. He also emphasized the importance of investing in employees, leadership development, and building future-ready teams.
