Qatar 2022: Mexico to Play with Iraq Friendly in November

Mexico will play friendly with Iraq on Nov. 9 at the Estadi Montilivi in Gerona, Spain as part of Latin American team's preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Mexican Football Federation said in a statement on its official website Thursday.

Mexico were drawn in group C for the upcoming World Cup championship along with Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Poland. Their kickoff will be against Poland on Nov. 22 at the 974 Stadium.
Iraq did not qualify for the tournament.

This trial game will be the first for both sides since Iraq's 0-1 defeat to hosts Mexico in the 1986 FIFA World Cup group stage, the Arab country's sole appearance in world cup competitions.
