QU Announces New Tuition Fee Rates

Qatar University (QU) stated that it has amended its tuition fees, increasing them at the undergraduate level for non-Qatari students, as well as increasing them for all postgraduate students, in addition to raising the university housing fees. In its statement, the university indicated that this increase would apply to students who will enroll in the university starting from the Fall 2023 semester and does not apply to current students. QU noted that this increase comes in the context of the fact that QU offers high-quality higher education in an array of disciplines, providing its students with many advantages and facilities, whilst its tuition fees does not commensurate with the costs the university bears. According to the new amendments, tuition fees for the bachelor's level became QR 1,100 per credit hour for the courses of the College of Education, the College of Law, the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, and for the humanity courses of the College of Arts and Science. As for the courses offered by the College of Business and Economics, the College of Health Sciences, the College of Nursing and the Foundation program and the scientific courses in the College of Arts and Science, their tuition fees have become QR 1,200 per credit hour. On the other hand, tuition fees for the courses of the College of Engineering, the College of Pharmacy, and the Arabic language program for non-native speakers have become QR 1,400 per credit hour. Furthermore, the annual tuition fees for students at the Colleges of Medicine and Dental Medicine became QR 38,000 for the first year, QR 72,000 for the second and third years, QR 108, 000 for the fourth year, and QR 138,000 for each of the fifth and sixth years respectively. QU clarified that tuition fees for students of the Faculties of Medicine and Dental Medicine are approximate, with the price varying depending on the courses the student is registered in from the different faculties. The credit hour per course in Master's and PhD programs, including PharmD program now stands at QR 2,200. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program's credit hour rate now stands at QR 2,600. Whilst the Education Diploma Program's credit hour price became QR 2,000. With regard to the amendment of student housing fees, Qatar University indicated that the room fees have been adjusted according to their area and the number of room occupants, while maintaining the fees for small rooms for single occupancy (QR 2000/per month), whilst the fees for large rooms have increased (QR 1100-2600/ per month). This fee includes accommodation fees, three meals a day, and transportation from the student dorms to the various buildings and colleges on campus. The university dorms are characterized by high-quality facilities and services, such as a gym, a computer lab, a dining hall, a Majlis, and recreational areas. During the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the university hosted the Argentine and Spanish teams in the university dorms. Tuition fees are to be paid at the beginning of each semester, or before the course enrollment period for the following semester. QU stated that tuition fees are estimated according to the program's rate under which the registered course falls, regardless of the student's major. Therefore, if two students from two different majors register in the same course, they will pay the same tuition fees.
