QRCS Deploys Three Free Medical Convoys to Sudan
Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has deployed three simultaneous medical convoys to Sudan, over two weeks, eyeing to perform operations and medical examinations free of charge for poor patients in three Sudanese states, assisted by local medical professionals of the host hospitals.
According to a QRCS's statement, the first medical convoy is deployed to the River Nile State, covering general surgery and urology, while the Gezira State is hosting the second medical convoy for urology. The two convoys are run in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), with a target of 700 medical examinations and 486 complex and critical surgeries.
The third medical convoy involves 120 cardiac surgeries and catheterizations for children at Aliaa Specialist Hospital, Omdurman, the Khartoum State, in cooperation with the Canadian International Foundation (CIF) and Sudan's Ministry of Health.
Director-General of the River Nile State's Health Ministry Dr. Abdelmoneim Bella, during a meeting with Director of Relief and International Development Division at QRCS Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, hailed the support provided by Qatar to Sudan in different fields. He also lauded the QRCS's efforts in the River Nile State referring to the latest medical envoy and the support directed to the Atbara Teaching Hospital.
