The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced the allocation of USD 1 million to implement urgent relief interventions for the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Sudan, aiming to provide support to 17,000 families, about 119,000 people, in cooperation with its partners from the Sudanese Red Crescent Society and the Sudanese Ministry of Health.

In a statement, QRCS said that it will implement a 6-month urgent intervention in the fields of health, nutrition, water, sanitation and shelter, in addition to non-food relief items.

QRCS indicated that a plane arrived at Port Sudan Airport from Doha carrying a shipment of urgent humanitarian aid, within the framework of QRCS's urgent relief plan in Sudan. HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of the Sudan Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al Sada, QRCS Director of the Relief and International Development Sector Dr. Mohamed Salah Ibrahim and president of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society received the plane.

According to the statement, the plane is carrying 22 tons of humanitarian aid, including medical and food equipment and materials for the benefit of people affected by the current events, provided by QRCS.

In a related context, QRCS affirmed its continuation to provide assistance to those affected by the events in Sudan for the third day in a row, by distributing food baskets to those affected in the state of Gezira, where the distribution included two shelters for the affected people who were displaced to the city of Rifa'a, and five shelters in the city of Al Hasaheisa in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society and the humanitarian aid commission in the state of Gezira. The assistance included support for 95 families in these centers, which include about 650 individuals.

QRCS, in partnership with the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, and coordination with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, provided urgent aid to those affected by the events in Sudan, including food baskets and sanitary materials to more than 2,500 families who were displaced to the city of Wad Madani in the state of Gezira.
