QFA Chief Hails Infantino’s Decision Not to Proceed With FFE Proposal

QFA President HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani

DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) PresidentĀ HEĀ Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani has welcomed FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s decision to withdraw the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative, describing it as a move that safeguards football’s unity and the interests of the global game.

Sheikh HamadĀ said the decision reflects FIFA’s willingness to listen to the concerns raised by member associations and stakeholders, adding that maintaining transparency, good governance and collective decision-making remains vital for the continued growth of football.

The FFE proposal had sought to establish a FIFA-owned commercial subsidiary that would consolidate the governing body's commercial and event operations while opening a minority stake to private investors. The initiative triggered widespread debate among football federations and confederations over governance, transparency and the future commercial direction of the sport.Ā

Following strong opposition from several football bodies, Infantino announced that the proposal would not proceed, saying it had created divisions that were no longer in the best interests of football. He reiterated FIFA’s commitment to bringing stakeholders together and continuing to support the development of the game worldwide.Ā

The QFA chief reaffirmed Qatar’s support for initiatives that strengthen global football through collaboration, solidarity and sustainable development, expressing confidence that FIFA will continue working closely with its member associations to promote the sport and expand opportunities for players and fans around the world.
