The Purpose of a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), which is a legal document issued by the Criminal Evidence and Information Department (CEID).The PCC serves as evidence that you don't have any criminal history or as a copy of your criminal history. The majority of businesses require the Certificate because it's crucial for them to see your background before offering you a job. This document is one of the most important ones to have if you're considering moving to Qatar. PCC acts as evidence of any arrest, conviction, and criminal proceedings—or absence thereof.

The document is only given out in Qatar to residents who have been there for at least six months.

Who Needs a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)?

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is a required document for you as the applicant, regardless of whether you intend to travel abroad for education or job, get married, or need it for immigration. The paper is also essential for anyone starting a business or organization, veterans, independent school licensees, and others. 

PCC is required, regardless of whether you are a national of Qatar or an expat living there. Obtaining your PCC is a rather simple process. Living in Qatar for at least six months before applying for PCC is one of the requirements. Another is having your fingerprints recorded in the MOI system. With the proper paperwork, the process should be rather straightforward.

Documents Needed for Obtaining a PCC in Qatar

Applying for your PCC should be a simple task with the right documentation. If you’re not sure what documents are required for obtaining a PCC in Qatar, we’ve compiled a list of all the necessities for you.

In order to obtain your PCC in Qatar, you’ll need:

A filled and completed Application Form
A valid copy of your passport (current passport and old passport that was used while in Qatar)
A valid copy of your residence permit
Copy of the fingerprinted document certified or attested by the Qatar Embassy in your country
Addresses of all the places you’ve resided in Qatar and the time period of your stay
Copy of the Qatar ID
A formal letter addressed to the Director / General of evidence and criminal information that shows the certificate’s purpose
2 passport size photographs (4×6 cm)
If applicable, a letter from the company
Home Country PCC attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar (MOFA)

Where to Collect Police Clearance Certificate in Qatar?
You can collect Police Clearance Certificate in Qatar at these two places:

1. Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs
Address: Al Faisal Tower, Doha

2. Criminal Evidences and Information Department
Address: 6C95+Q65, Al Muntazah, Ar-Rayyan

PCC for expats (those who lived in Qatar for over six months and left)

Those who have left Qatar but have previously lived there for over six months can obtain their PCC:

By visiting Qatar and applying personally (make sure to have all the necessary documents first)
By sending a representative with a power of attorney that states that the person is able to apply on your behalf (with all the necessary documents)
By visiting your nearest Qatar Embassy (with all the necessary documents)
By applying through mail or post to the CIED in Qatar (with all the necessary documents)

PCC for: Customs clearance, Marriage, Company establishment, or the License for an independent school

1. For those still living in Qatar

Qatari citizens who are getting married, exchanging companies, establishing a company, or are a veterinarian or a licensee of an independent school, need the following documents that will enable them to obtain their PCC:

A filled and completed application form
A valid copy of their ID
2 photographs (4×6 cm)

2. For those no longer living in Qatar

Qatari expats who are getting married, exchanging companies, establishing a company, or are a veterinarian or a licensee of an independent school, need the following documents that will enable them to obtain their PCC:

A filled and completed application form
A valid copy of their residence permit and a passport
Full addresses of the places you have resigned in Qatar as well as the time period of the stay
Original fingerprints documents certified by your country’s Embassy
PCC from your country attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other concerned authorities
Sponsor letter from the company
2 passport size photographs (4×6 cm)

PCC for: Employment

1. For those still living in Qatar

Qatari citizens seeking employment will need the following documents in order to obtain their PCC:

A filled and completed application form
Copy of the ID Card
An offer letter from the employer that is addressed to the Director of CEID
Academic qualification certificate
If applicable, the previous employer’s no objection letter
2 passport size photographs (4×6 cm)

2. For those no longer living in Qatar

Qatari expats seeking employment will need the following documents in order to obtain their PCC:

A filled and completed application form
An offer letter from the employer that is addressed to the Director of CEID
- A copy of the ID Card
2 passport size photographs (4×6 cm)
PCC from your country attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other concerned authorities
If applicable, the previous employer’s no objection letter
Fee: X Qatari Riyals

Applying for PCC from Outside of the Country

If you’re no longer living in Qatar, but you’re thinking of applying for PCC, here are the requirements:

An original document with the full set of fingerprints, attested by a competent government authority in the applicant’s country
Copies of relevant pages of the applicant’s current passport, as well as the old passport used while in Qatar; make sure that you also have a residence permit, dates of first entry to the country, and the last exit from the country, as well as personal particulars
3 recent passport size photographs (4×6 cm)
Letter explaining the purpose of the certificate
Original Good Conduct Certificate from your local police authority attested by a competent government authority

Applying for PCC through Metrash2 App

You can now apply for your PCC using the Metrash2 App, which has been provided by the authorities to further simplify the procedure. Here are the steps that will show you how to use the app, which is rather easy to do:

Login to Metrash2 app
Click on ‘General Services’ that can be found on the homepage, and then on ‘Police Clearance Certificate’
Click on ‘Request Certificate’
Fill in the data
Click on ‘Next’ and upload all the necessary documents
After ticking the ‘I agree on validity of data’, click ‘Next’
Make the payment
Submit your application

Checking the Status of your PCC Application Using the Metrash2 App

Login to Metrash2 app
Click on ‘General Services’ that can be found on the homepage, and then on ‘Police Clearance Certificate’
Click on ‘Application Follow-up’ and fill in the necessary date
Click on ‘Search’
Check the status of your application!

The fee for PCC is QR 10.
