Qatar wins second gold medal in Tokyo 2020

Qatar’s high jump athlete Mutaz Essa Barshim has secured a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, bringing the total of gold medals for Qatar to 2. 

The first-ever gold medal was achieved by Qatar’s weightlifter Fares El Bakh during the 96kg weightlifting competition. 

Barshim who won silver in 2016 Rio Olympics and 2012 London Olympics, shares the Tokyo 2020 gold medal with Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi
