13th edition of the Youth Empowerment Conference

Education Above All Foundation (EAA) launched today the 13th edition of the Youth Empowerment Conference (Empower 2021) through its Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) programme, in the presence of HE the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Education Above All Foundation Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani and HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali.

The four-day international conference, held in partnership with Qatar Museums, under the theme "Young Global Citizens Contribute to Building Culture," brings together more than a thousand young people from Qatar and abroad to participate in a rich cultural exchange and interaction.

During the conference, which is held in an integrated manner, young people between the ages of 15 and 24 will participate in a different set of seminars, panel discussions, motivating speeches and workshops, in line with the mission entrusted to the Global Citizenship Education Project (GCED) of the Reach Out to Asia Programme. Young people from all over the world will participate in an in-depth interactive exchange that aims to promote the values of civic participation and the preservation of cultural heritage to achieve sustainable social and economic development for future generations.

In this context, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums, the Doha Film Institute and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Education Above All Foundation, said: "Culture gives us the opportunity to learn about our common human aspects, and it has the power to shape our societies and to let us have a sense of identity and belonging. There is no doubt that the Empower 2021 Youth Empowerment Conference embodies our appreciation of its importance and our celebration and belief in the role of youth in building a global culture that allows all humanity to thrive, and preserve their gains in this context, and in the context of its efforts the Education Above All Foundation continues through its Reach Out to Asia program to support young people on their journey by providing them with the knowledge, skills and values needed to become forces for the positive change we look forward to," Sheikha Al Mayassa said.

For his part, Acting Executive Director of the Reach Out to Asia Programme Abdullah Al-Abdullah said this conference, in its thirteenth edition, continues to mobilize the next generation to be make change within their societies and to enhance their sense of belonging to a common humanity that brings them together from different parts of the world and from various sources and origins, expressing his gratitude to the conference partners namely Qatar Museums, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, College of the North Atlantic- Qatar (CNA-Q), Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) and other partners for their valuable ideas on the importance of preserving culture and its role in building creative and sustainable economies based on the values of empathy, solidarity and respect for diversity.

As part of its mission to promote community engagement and its celebration of the selection of Doha as the 2021 Capital of Islamic Culture, Qatar Museums has partnered with Education Above All Foundation to host a hybrid edition of the Empower 2021 conference, including organizing workshops and webinars (seminars conducted over the internet) covering topics as diverse as the role of intercultural dialogue and arts in social development, cultural heritage, the role of social media and innovation, in addition to many other topics. The list of speakers includes some of the most prestigious members of artistic and cultural institutions within Qatar and abroad, including the Museum of Islamic Art, the r National Museum of Qatar and the Childrens Museum of Qatar (DADU).
