Mowasalat (Karwa) Autonomous E-Bus
Mowasalat (Karwa), in partnership with Yutong, has successfully completed a standard trial operation of an autonomous electric bus with passengers onboard at Lusail Bus Depot. The trial, supervised by the Ministry of Transport (MOT), aligns with MOT's strategies for transitioning to an electric transit system and the Autonomous Vehicles Strategy launched in September.Â
This strategy focuses on supporting innovation, incorporating A.I. technologies, and staying abreast of global advancements in the transportation industry.
The autonomous electric bus combines cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility, operating on clean electric energy and producing zero emissions. Equipped with advanced sensors, high-definition cameras, laser, and ultrasonic radars, the buses prioritize safety and security. This technological integration not only enhances transportation efficiency but also contributes to creating a safer and more sustainable urban environment.
The trial follows the successful 2022 operation of an autonomous electric minibus on Qatar Foundation's Campus without passengers. It aligns with the goals of the Autonomous Vehicles Strategy, emphasizing the adoption of advanced technologies for smart and eco-friendly public transit systems.
The Ministry of Transport plans to continue developing the transportation and mobility system, supporting economic and service sectors in Qatar and leaving a sustainable legacy.
Ahmad Hassan Al Obaidly, Chief Operating Officer of Mowasalat (Karwa), expressed that the successful operation of the autonomous electric bus signifies a technological achievement and underscores their commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation. By integrating autonomous technology with a focus on zero-emission vehicles, Mowasalat (Karwa) aims to set new standards in transportation, contributing significantly to Qatar's environmental goals and enhancing the community's quality of life.
Mowasalat (Karwa) remains at the forefront of transforming Qatar's transportation landscape, embracing innovation to provide sustainable, efficient, and advanced transport solutions for the general public, schools, and corporations.
