More Than 378000 Students Back in School Today

Students are returning to school today after the summer break, with schools and the traffic department implementing top-tier arrangements to ensure their safety and security.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced that 378,134 students are enrolled in both government and private schools for the 2024-25 academic year.

Yesterday, schools sent text messages to parents reminding them that classes resume today and that attendance policies will be enforced from the first day of the new school year. A government primary school communicated via text that it will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on September 1-2, from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Additionally, the canteen will be open to provide meals to students.

The General Directorate of Traffic has introduced a comprehensive traffic plan for the 2024-2025 academic year as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce traffic accidents and create a safer traffic environment.

The plan aims to improve vehicle flow and decrease traffic congestion on main roads, around schools, and on the roads leading to them by increasing patrols and the presence of traffic police, especially at intersections and near schools that typically experience heavy traffic. This initiative is designed to ensure the safety of students and all road users.

Today, 136,802 students enrolled in 303 government schools and kindergartens will return to their classes.

Private schools are expected to accommodate 241,332 students, including 48,319 Qatari students. Thirteen new private schools and kindergartens have been licensed to open this year, including four branches of existing educational institutions.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has confirmed the availability of 2,353 buses for student transportation, in addition to 160 vehicles dedicated to transporting students with special needs. The ministry also announced the completion of maintenance work on public schools, which includes air conditioning, security, safety, and electrical systems, as well as the comprehensive preparation of the school environment.

Recently, the ministry conducted the New Teachers Empowerment Program, which focused on 410 newly recruited teachers assigned to public schools across various disciplines.
