The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar has issued a critical advisory to residents regarding a surge in fraudulent property rental advertisements circulating online.
These scams often involve residential properties and recreational facilities being marketed at unrealistically low prices, aiming to lure unsuspecting individuals into falling victim to deceitful schemes.
The MoI has urged the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution when encountering such offers. Residents are strongly advised to verify the authenticity of property rental deals thoroughly before making any payments or commitments.
Highlighting the significance of due diligence, the ministry emphasized that unusually low-priced property listings should be approached with skepticism.
To tackle these scams and protect the community, the MoI has made it easier for residents to report suspicious activities. Reports can be submitted through the Metrash app or by emailing the Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department at cccc@moi.gov.qa.
This advisory serves as a reminder for residents to stay informed and safeguard themselves from potential cybercrimes while dealing with online property listings.
