To safeguard the country's wildlife, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has initiated comprehensive inspection campaigns targeting environmental violations and ensuring compliance with laws protecting wildlife. These campaigns cover terrestrial and coastal areas, natural reserves, and various regions in collaboration with the General Cleanliness Department of the Ministry of Municipality and the Internal Security Force "Lekhwiya."
As outlined by the plan from the Wildlife Protection Department, multiple inspection campaigns will commence in January 2024, addressing encroachments in the central, northern, and southern regions. Public cleanliness campaigns are also planned for the northern regions.
The Ministry's expanded campaign aims to eliminate environmental violations in all targeted areas and uphold laws protecting wildlife.
This includes adherence to Law No. 19 of 2004 regarding wildlife and habitat protection, Law No. 10 of 1987 regarding the protection of state property, and ministerial decisions regulating camel grazing, hunting seasons for birds and wild animals, and camping regulations. The campaign covers camping areas to ensure compliance with designated sites, specified camping areas, and permit conditions. Failure to adhere to inspection or permit conditions may result in permit cancellation.
The Ministry advises travelers to respect these laws, emphasizing legal consequences for violations and the importance of preserving biodiversity, meadows, and wildlife. Emphasis is placed on maintaining general cleanliness, avoiding harm to terrestrial and marine environments, and using designated waste containers. During the winter camping season, relevant authorities have placed cleaning containers near all camping areas.
