The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has released a public advisory urging motorists to adopt strict safety measures to reduce the risk of vehicle fires during the summer months, when soaring temperatures heighten the danger of flammable materials igniting inside cars.
Officials highlighted several key precautions that drivers should follow to safeguard themselves and their passengers. The advisory stressed that mobile phones and portable chargers (power banks) must never be left inside vehicles, as overheating batteries can trigger fires. Similarly, motorists were warned against leaving lighters in cars, given their high susceptibility to heat and potential to explode under direct sunlight.
The Ministry also underscored the importance of ensuring vehicles are free from perfumes, sanitizers, and other flammable substances, which can easily combust in enclosed spaces exposed to extreme heat. In addition, drivers were cautioned against making unsafe modifications to electrical systems, as faulty wiring or unapproved alterations significantly increase fire hazards.
The campaign, issued under the slogan โYour awareness enhances your safety,โ reflects Qatarโs broader efforts to strengthen public safety and reduce seasonal risks. By raising awareness of everyday practices that can prevent accidents, the MoI aims to protect lives and property while reinforcing a culture of responsibility among motorists.
Authorities emphasized that these guidelines are not only preventive but also part of a wider national strategy to minimize emergencies during the summer season. The Ministry reiterated that vigilance and adherence to safety instructions are essential, noting that even small oversights can lead to serious consequences.
The advisory was circulated across official platforms, including social media, to ensure maximum outreach and encourage community participation in promoting safe driving habits.
