The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE)
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) concluded the first pilot phase of the project to enhance the enrollment of public and private school students in higher education institutions in the State of Qatar.
The ministry stated that the project, which was launched last September, would enhance the joint responsibility between it and the higher education institutions in the country to encourage students of public and private schools to enroll in universities in the State of Qatar, so that both parties assume specific tasks and responsibilities, through the implementation of successive annual phases for similar periods of time, starting from the current academic year (2022/2023) until the year (2025/2026).
MOEHE indicated that one of the basics that the project focuses on is leaving a long-term impact on school students, as it is not limited to implementing short-term events and activities, rather, it also covers two main axes, namely the knowledge axis, which is represented in the dissemination of reliable data and information regarding enrollment and scholarships in higher education institutions in the State of Qatar with private education schools and students, and the skills axis, which is represented in providing public and private school students, since the start of their studies at the secondary level, with skills that support their success when they enter the university level, and that enhance their attraction to universities in the country, in addition to enhancing the skills of academic advisors in private schools to provide effective counseling services.
The ministry explained that one of the objectives of the project is also to raise the awareness of private school students about higher education tracks, academic programs offered, scholarships and internal grants in the State of Qatar, as well as raising the awareness of school academic advisors in higher education institutions, providing quality counseling services based on reliable data on the number of higher education institutions and their specializations, increasing the percentage of public and private education students enrolled in education majors and the /STEM/ system for integrated sciences, and promoting enrollment in higher education institutions that offer specializations other than that.
MOEHE reviewed the tasks and responsibilities of the project, whether from its side or at the level of the educational institutions participating in it, the various programs of the aforementioned two axes, and the student class targeted by each of them, noting that 296 male and female students, 5 institutions of higher education and 20 private schools in the country participated in this phase.
