The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in cooperation with FIFA and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), organized a workshop for law enforcement officers of the national committee to protect the intellectual property of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The workshop discussed ways to establish fair competition and prevent illegal abuses such as unauthorized promotional activities, combat the sale of counterfeit goods and products related to the World Cup without obtaining the approval of the concerned authorities, and the unauthorized use of FIFA's trademarks and the designs of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The workshop also dealt with several vital topics, including the tasks of law enforcement officers during the matches in the vicinity of stadiums, ways to protect the trademark and intellectual property of both the FIFA and the sponsors, protecting World cup designs, protecting the rights of licensed companies that sell tournament products, in addition to highlighting the laws and regulations regulating this field such as Law No 10 of 2021 regarding the measures for hosting FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The workshop also reviewed ways to protect participating companies, mechanisms for identifying officially licensed products, and trademark protection program in stadiums during the World Cup.

The organization of the workshop, which concludes its works Tuesday, comes within the framework of the ministry's efforts in coordination with other ministries and government agencies concerned with implementing measures to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by the best international practices adopted in this field. In addition to supporting intellectual property rights and providing the necessary protection for grand global trademarks.

Around 90 participants from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOIC), Ministry of Interior (MoI), and Ministry of Municipality and Environment attended the workshop.
