MECC Processes Over 57,000 Electronic Submissions for Chemical, Hazardous Waste Management

Doha, Qatar |  September 06, 2026 – The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) announced that it has processed 57,699 electronic submissions since launching its digital system for chemical and hazardous waste management in 2024.

23 E-Services Consolidated Under Integrated System

In a statement issued Sunday, MECC said it now provides 23 electronic services through an integrated system that brings together chemical management and hazardous waste management under a highly efficient and transparent regulatory framework.

Zero Paper Submissions, High Customer Satisfaction

The ministry has processed transactions for more than 1,850 registered companies, achieving a 0 percent rate of paper-based submissions, while recording a customer satisfaction rate of 93.4 percent, according to the statement.

Processing Times Cut by Up to 70 Percent

MECC said process reengineering efforts led to a significant reduction in processing time, by as much as 70 percent, with average processing times for hazardous materials transactions dropping to 2.4 business days and hazardous waste transactions to 1.5 business days. Import and export services also saw a 33 percent reduction in processing time, following the handling of 40,391 shipment clearances at ports of entry in coordination with customs authorities.

Progress on Environmental Compliance and Circular Economy

On environmental compliance monitoring and circular economy efforts, MECC reported managing 131,971 tons of hazardous waste in line with approved standards, receiving 8,065 used electronic devices, and issuing permits for the disposal of 288 tons of electronic waste.

Compliance Inspections Raise Facility Standards

Compliance monitoring activities included inspections of 4,097 facilities, raising the compliance rate among warehouses and facilities to approximately 90 percent. These efforts were supported by the deployment of 19 modern field devices for rapid chemical identification, the statement noted.

Training, Awareness Efforts Support Private Sector Partnerships

As part of its partnership-building initiatives, MECC organized 49 awareness workshops and training courses attended by 1,990 private-sector representatives, while also developing and updating 25 guidance documents and monitoring compliance with the requirements of five international agreements.

Digital Expansion Planned Under TASMU Program

The ministry said it is preparing to expand digital integration and develop advanced analytical tools in its next phase, under the TASMU smart program, with the goal of gradually transitioning to a proactive regulatory approach that supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
