Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition

The Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition (S'hail 2022) concluded Saturday after six consecutive days of action hosted by the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara on its Wisdom Square premises.

The sixth edition of the distinct exhibition specializing in falcons, falconry products, modern hunting gadgets, hunting-related weapons, modified vehicles and caravans, accessories and camping supplies saw the participation of 180 major companies from 20 countries amid an increasing demand from hunting and falconry enthusiasts.

During the closing day, HE Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani was honored and awarded the S'hail Shield of Excellence 2022 for his great efforts in caring for the heritage of falconry in the State of Qatar.

The closing day also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between Al-Baida Research Center for Houbara and Bird Breeding in Qatar and Al Jareesh Center for Houbara Breeding in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, winners of the event's competitions were announced in the closing day. The prize of QR20,000 for the Most Beautiful Pavilion at S'hail 2022 went to Al Rahal (land and sea equipment firm) of Qatar; the first prize for 'The Most Beautiful Falcon Hood' of $3,000 was won by Pepe Para Hoods from Spain; Sahara Hunting of Britain won the second prize of $2000, while Matroh of Qatar won the third prize and $1,000.

The daily falcon auction at S'hail 2022 continued to be the exhibition's high point like every year, with large bids being made at each of the auctions. The highest winning bid yesterday was of QR911,000, made by Bader Mohsen Misfer Saeed Al Subaey, while the auctions at the end of the exhibition achieved the highest price of QR966,000 made by Muteb Muneer Al Qahtani.

Salem Mabkhout Al Marri, director of the Katara Public Relations Department and member of the Executive Committee of the Shail Organising Committee, applauded the grand success of the exhibition's sixth edition.

He stressed that Shail 2022 was distinct with its diverse cultural activities, especially the falcon auction - one of the most attractive events for falconers, hunting enthusiasts and the public.

On the final day, Shail 2022 witnessed a large presence of visitors from within and outside Qatar. The visitors were keen to witness the products and service on offer at the event and take a look the latest, state-of-the-art developments in the field of falconry, hunting and hunting-related weapons and camping trips, in addition to attending cultural programs and various heritage activities.

The participants and exhibitors at Shail 2022 expressed admiration at the development and expansion witnessed by the sixth edition of the exhibition, which was 20% larger in terms of the total area, exceeding 10,000sqm.

Shail - Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition - is one of the largest international exhibitions and a showcase of Qatars rich cultural heritage and legacy. Shail aims to support commercial, cultural and sporting activities related to falcons and hunting, and to build reciprocal relations between amateurs and traders that benefit all - at both the local and international levels.
