Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday his intention to resign from the leadership of the ruling party.
Trudeau said in statements that he will remain in his position until the party chooses a replacement for him, adding "I will resign from the leadership of the Liberal Party (the ruling party) and the premiership, once the party chooses a new leader." Trudeau's announcement comes after nine years of assuming the leadership of the Canadian government, which has begun to face a lot of pressure in recent weeks, with the legislative elections approaching.
