Individual arrested for unauthorised currency exchange operations

The Criminal Investigation Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested an individual of Asian descent for conducting unauthorised currency exchange operations.

Through search and investigation operations, the suspect was caught receiving money in local currency in exchange for providing a certain Asian currency, the Ministry of Interior said in a social media post, on Wednesday.

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to the allegations, and cash amounts and financial receipts were found in his possession. Subsequently, the accused and the seized items were referred to the authorities to proceed with the legal procedures in this matter, added the post.
