How to Obtain Saudi Visa As a Qatar Resident

Qatar residents can now apply for a Saudi visa online, eliminating the need to visit the Saudi Embassy in Doha.

In this guide, we’ll cover the eligibility criteria, associated fees, and a detailed, step-by-step process for applying online for a Saudi visa specifically for residents of Qatar.

In March 2023, Saudi Arabia introduced a new policy that allows expatriate residents in GCC countries to obtain a tourist visa, regardless of their profession.

This announcement was made by the Ministry of Tourism. Expatriate residents in GCC countries can now apply through the “Visit Saudi” platform for an electronic tourism visa, provided their residence permit is valid for at least three months.

Saudi Visa Requirements for Qatar Residents

Passport: Must have a validity of at least six months.
Qatar ID: Should be valid for a minimum of three months.
Health Insurance: Must be purchased through the eVisa application platform.
Children Under 18: Parents must apply first for their visa.

Visa Validity

The multiple-entry visa is valid for one year from the date of issuance. During this period, you can stay in Saudi Arabia for a maximum of 90 days in total. For stays longer than three months or for other purposes, a visa must be obtained through the embassy.

Required Documents

Ensure you have the following ready before starting your application:

  • A recent passport-sized photograph with a white background, taken in formal or modest attire
  • Scanned copy of your passport
  • Scanned copy of your Qatar ID card
  • A credit or debit card for online payment
  • An email address to receive the approved eVisa

Saudi Visa Fees for Qatar Residents

The total cost of a Saudi visa for Qatar residents, including service charges, is approximately QAR 329. Note that medical insurance, which is mandatory and must be purchased through the visa platform, will incur additional costs.

Here’s a breakdown of the fees:

  • Visa Fee: SAR 300 (approx. QAR 290.61)
  • Electronic Visa Processing Fee: QAR 36.40
  • Banking Service Fee: QAR 1.82
  • Health Insurance: Varies depending on the selected plan

How to Apply for a Saudi Visa as a Qatar Resident

The application process is entirely online via the Saudi Government’s Unified National Visa Platform. It’s advisable for Qatari residents to apply for the eVisa at least five days before their intended travel to Saudi Arabia to account for any unforeseen delays.

Step 1: Access the Saudi Visa Platform
Visit https://visa.mofa.gov.sa/. If the page loads in Arabic, click the blue “E” icon in the top left corner to switch to English.

Step 2: Log In or Register
Click on “Login” in the top right corner and select “Individuals Login.” If you’re a first-time user, click “Register” and sign up using your email. You’ll receive an activation email; follow the instructions to activate your account.

Step 3: Start a New Application
Once logged in, click on “Add New Application” on the right side of the dashboard.

Step 4: Accept the Terms and Conditions
Read and agree to the Online e-Payment Services Agreement.

Step 5: Complete the Application

  • Visa Type: Select “Tourism Visit.” This option allows you to perform Umrah as well.
  • Transport Mode: Choose Air, Land, or Sea. Note that this selection doesn’t restrict your mode of entry.
  • Country of Residence: Qatar
  • Saudi Mission: Select “Doha.”
  • Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo with a white background, and proceed.

Step 6: Select Nationality and GCC Residence
After entering your nationality, select the option for GCC residents with a valid residence permit for at least three months.

Step 7: Enter Qatar ID Details and Upload Documents
Input your Qatar ID number, expiry date, and upload copies of your passport and Qatar ID in JPG or PNG format (max size 1 MB).

Step 8: Provide Passport Details and Saudi Address
Enter your passport information, including the issuing country, dates of issue and expiry, place

Step 9: Purchase Medical Insurance
You may need to purchase medical insurance through the visa platform. Enter the required details and answer basic health questions.

Step 10: Await Email Updates
Your application will be reviewed, and status updates will be sent to your email, usually within 24-48 hours. Once approved, you’ll receive the visa via email, which you should print and present at the border.

Applying for Dependents

For minors under 18 years, parents must first apply for their visa and then reapply for their children. If you’re applying for a spouse, children, or other first-degree relatives who are unemployed, use the same occupation you listed for yourself.

Airports for eVisa Holders

With a Saudi eVisa, you can fly from Doha to the following airports in Saudi Arabia:

  • King Khalid International Airport (RUH), Riyadh
  • King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED), Jeddah
  • King Fahd International Airport (DMM), Dammam
  • Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED), Medina

Important Notes:

  • Qatari passport holders and other GCC citizens don’t need a visa to enter Saudi Arabia.
  • All other foreign visitors must have a visa for any stay in Saudi Arabia.
  • GCC residents of any nationality can apply for an eVisa.
  • This visa also allows the holder to perform Umrah.
  • Visa processing charges are non-refundable, even if the visa is rejected.
  • The Saudi eVisa costs SAR 300 (approx. $80), excluding health insurance fees.
  • The multiple-entry eVisa is valid for one year, allowing a total stay of up to 90 days within that period of birth, and other personal details. Provide your Saudi Arabia address and travel details, such as the port of entry and expected arrival date.
