HMC Launches an Anti-gravity Treadmill for Male Outpatients

Hamad Medical Corporation’s Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI) has introduced a groundbreaking anti-gravity treadmill to its male musculoskeletal outpatient department, enhancing patient-centered care. This state-of-the-art equipment uses advanced air pressure technology to reduce the impact of body weight during movement, significantly aiding recovery for patients with musculoskeletal conditions and mobility challenges.

Dr. Hanadi Al Hamad, Deputy Chief of Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, and Long-Term Care at HMC, emphasized the importance of the new tool. She highlighted how it offers a low-impact environment, allowing patients to regain mobility and strength without the stress of full weight-bearing on joints and muscles. This is especially beneficial for individuals recovering from serious injuries, surgeries, or degenerative changes, enabling them to start rehabilitation earlier with increased confidence. The treadmill is expected to lead to faster recovery and more effective rehabilitation outcomes, providing a more comfortable experience for patients.

The anti-gravity treadmill adjusts the amount of body weight patients bear while walking or running, using differential air pressure technology. This helps patients perform movements that would otherwise be too painful or difficult in a full-weight-bearing situation, allowing them to gradually build strength, balance, and endurance while minimizing recovery setbacks.

QRI’s Healthcare Service Manager, Al Madzhar Ahmadul, praised the treadmill’s user-friendly design, which simplifies the rehabilitation process for both patients and clinical staff.
