In the first half of 2024, the Outpatient Department at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) saw over 1.4 million visits, and its laboratories performed more than 11 million tests, according to recent statistics.

Starting January 2024, HMC has been releasing monthly statistics from its hospitals and services. The data indicates that outpatient services and laboratory tests were the most utilized services in the first half of the year.

As Qatar's primary public healthcare provider, HMC manages 12 hospitals — nine specialized and three community hospitals — along with the Ambulance Service and home care services.

From January to June 2024, the Outpatient Department recorded 1,428,627 visits, and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) conducted 11,759,079 tests.

The Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) at HMC is implementing system changes to the Referral and Booking Management System (RBMS) to improve outpatient experiences by enhancing appointment booking, reducing wait times, and ensuring easier access to care.

DLMP aims to provide cutting-edge laboratory diagnostic services to patients within HMC and other institutions, aiding in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of diseases.

The latest report, detailing June's activities across HMC hospitals and services, revealed that the Outpatient Department had 223,223 visits, with 1,780,867 laboratory tests conducted. Additionally, 24,159 medical reports were processed.

"HMC prides itself on supporting, caring for, and treating tens of thousands of patients each month across all its hospitals and services," HMC stated on the X platform.

In the first six months of 2024, HMC hospitals treated 197,204 patients, including 31,064 inpatient services in June.

Between February and June 2024, 11,238 babies were born in HMC hospitals.

HMC’s ‘Nesma’ak’ customer service helpline 16060, operating 24/7, handled 759,603 calls over six months.

Emergency Departments at HMC hospitals received 319,891 patients, while the five Pediatric Emergency Centres treated 412,750 children in the first half of 2024.

The Ambulance Service responded to 191,564 calls and recorded 992 life-flight air ambulance activations, including 29,304 calls and 206 air ambulance activations in June alone.

The National Mental Health Helpline received 7,066 calls, and HMC’s Urgent Consultation Service, which offers telephone consultations for urgent conditions without prior appointments, received 69,454 calls in the first half of 2024.

During this period, the medication home delivery service made 30,473 deliveries, and patients utilized HMC’s dialysis services 56,175 times.
