Hamad International Airport (DOH) has once again solidified its dedication to upholding the highest standards in business continuity and delivering top-tier operational services. This dedication was validated as the airport recently received the ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Systems recertification from BSI (British Standards Institution). This recognition not only underlines the airport's resilience and comprehensive business continuity plans but also its proactive approach to safeguard its operations, stakeholders, and passengers from global threats and disruptions.

Hamad International Airport first earned this prestigious ISO 22301:2019 certification in 2020, distinguishing itself as one of the first airports worldwide to attain this recognition from BSI. It exemplifies the airport's strategy for smooth operations, rapid business recovery, and its agility in adapting to global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and handling large-scale events, including the influx of visitors for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Michael McMillan, Senior Vice President Operations & Facilities Management at Hamad International Airport, commented on the achievement: “This recertification reaffirms our strong business foundation and unwavering commitment to providing world-class services for passengers and commercial allies. We maintain the highest safety and security standards to ensure a seamless and superior passenger experience.”

Theuns Kotze, Managing Director, Assurance IMETA at BSI, praised the airport's consistency, stating: “Hamad International Airport's unwavering commitment to business continuity ensures its capability to manage disruptions, safeguarding employees, customers, and the wider community. We applaud Hamad International Airport for upholding the international Business Continuity Management standards (ISO 22301). Their dedication showcases their prowess in mitigating, handling, and recovering from potential disruptions."

In its annual assessment, Hamad International Airport underwent an exhaustive audit. This process entailed revisiting its initial commitments during the certification and a multi-departmental review of procedures to implement business continuity plans and guarantee prompt recovery.

In addition to this latest achievement, Hamad International Airport was among the first global airports to acquire the ISO 55001-2014 Asset Management System and ISO/IEC 20000-1 Information Technology Service Management from BSI. Notably, it was the first airport ranked in SKYTRAX World Airport Awards' top 5 'Best Airport in the World' to earn the ISO 22301 certification in 2020. The airport is also vying for the esteemed SKYTRAX's ‘World’s Best Airport’ 2024 title.
