HH the Amir, President of Cooperative Republic of Guyana Hold Official Talks Session

Doha, September 08, 2026 : HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali held an official session of talks at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday morning.

Amir Welcomes Guyanese Delegation

At the start of the session, HH the Amir welcomed HE the President and the accompanying delegation, expressing hope for continued growth in relations between the two countries and voicing his aspiration that the visit would help expand joint cooperation to serve the interests of both nations.

President Ali, in turn, thanked HH the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, affirming Guyana's commitment to strengthening cooperative relations between the two countries.

Investment Cooperation Central to Talks

During the session, both sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them, with particular focus on investment, in addition to a number of topics of mutual interest. HH the Amir and HE the President also held a separate bilateral meeting, exchanging views on prominent regional and international developments.

Senior Officials from Both Sides Attend

The session was attended by HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, and a number of other ministers and senior officials.

On the Guyanese side, attendees included HE Presidential Assistant and Personal Representative George Andrew Hallaq, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Todd, HE Director of Presidential Affairs Marcia Nadir-Sharma, and members of the official delegation.

Amir Hosts Luncheon in Honor of Guyanese President

HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of HE the President of Guyana and the accompanying delegation. Earlier in the day, President Ali arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where an official reception ceremony was held in his honor.

Amir Highlights Investment Focus in Social Media Post

Following the talks, HH the Amir said in a post on his official X account that discussions with President Ali centered on expanding areas of economic, trade, and investment partnership between the two countries. His Highness added that greater cooperation would open broader horizons for the growing bilateral relationship and help meet the shared aspirations of both nations.
