HH the Amir and UK Prime Minister discuss ceasefire, security, and energy stability

HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al‑Thani held official talks on Friday,10 April 2026, with HE Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer at Lusail Palace, focusing on the latest regional and international developments.

HH the Amir welcomed the British Prime Minister, expressing appreciation for the United Kingdom’s supportive stance and commending the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. Both leaders underscored the importance of the recently announced ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as a critical step toward de‑escalation and regional stability.

Prime Minister Starmer reiterated his country’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks against the State of Qatar, affirming the UK’s full solidarity and support for Qatar’s measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability.

The discussions also highlighted the need for coordinated efforts with international partners to consolidate the ceasefire and build toward a lasting peace agreement. Both sides stressed that such an accord must guarantee regional security, protect global energy supply chains, and ensure the uninterrupted flow of maritime trade.
