HH the Amir Calls for Nationwide Istisqa Prayer on Thursday

In an earnest appeal for rain amid prevailing dry conditions, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has called upon citizens and residents across Qatar to come together in a collective act of devotion. The Istisqa prayer, a traditional Islamic ritual performed to seek rain, will be observed on Thursday morning, corresponding to 12 Jumada Al-Ula 1446 AH, or November 14, 2024.

This nationwide call to prayer underscores the Amir’s commitment to upholding Islamic traditions and fostering unity during times of need. HH the Amir himself will lead by example, joining worshipers at the Lusail prayer ground for the special ceremony.

Muslims have historically performed Istisqa prayers during periods of drought, imploring divine mercy for rainfall. The ritual serves as a reminder of humanity’s reliance on nature and spiritual humility in the face of environmental challenges.

Residents are encouraged to participate in this important act of worship, which is steeped in religious significance and communal solidarity.
