Government Communications Forum Discusses Upgrading Communication Sector in Qatar

The 1st edition of the Qatar Government Communications Forum

The first Government Communications Forum, aimed at developing the State of Qatar's communications sector, was held on Tuesday, January 23 2024, with the participation of over 200 media and communication professionals from key entities in the country, alongside prominent industry experts.

Held under the theme Effective and Unified Communications,' the forum focused on further strengthening and streamlining communication practices across Qatar.

Organised by the Government Communications Office (GCO), the event came on the heels of the recent launch of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.

It highlighted the importance of effective communication in the country's ongoing development journey, towards achieving its national vision for the year 2030.

The forum featured high-level participation from several government entities, including HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, and HE President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau Abdulaziz bin Nasser Mubarak Al Khalifa.

In his closing remarks, GCO Director Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani, emphasized the vital role of coherent communication in successful governance, building collaboration among government entities, unifying efforts, and realizing the national vision's ambitious goals.

He added: "We must work together to uphold a unified visual brand and communication identity, convey government policies with clarity and transparency, support the implementation of good governance and sustainability practices, and improve the quality of our communication mechanisms. We aim to achieve this by developing government channels that address the public in a connective and reliable way, and act as a reference for the community and all of Qatar's institutions."

The event concluded with the GCO honoring outstanding government communication efforts of 2023. The Ministry of Municipality received the Newsroom Award, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education was awarded Best Media Campaign, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau earned the Digital Media Award.

In addition, the forum offered a series of workshops on government branding guidelines, media campaigns, LinkedIn, and the latest Microsoft application.
