The Qatar night sky lit up with over a thousand shooting stars during the peak of the Geminids meteor shower on December 14.

Known for their radiant display in the Gemini constellation, the Geminids are recognized as one of the consistently spectacular annual meteor showers by NASA. Observable worldwide, these shooting stars are best seen during the night and early dawn.

Ajith Everester, founder of the Everester Observatory, and amateur astronomer Navin Anand, described Thursday's celestial spectacle as 'one of the best meteor showers in recent years.' Their two-day stargazing initiative attracted over a thousand participants, with more than 4,000 people, spanning all age groups, gathering at Al Kharrara in Al Wakrah Municipality.

Emphasizing the need to escape city lights for a clear view, Everester highlighted Al Kharrara as an ideal spot in Qatar. Over 1,000 vehicles, some from the far north, assembled at the location for an exceptional view of the meteor shower, which dazzled the night sky from 9 pm to 4 am.
