The Friends of the Environment Center, affiliated with Qatar's Ministry of Sports and Youth, has concluded its 'Summer of Sustainability 2026' programme after a month of educational, practical and interactive activities aimed at strengthening environmental awareness among children and young people.
Strong Participation
Ninety-three students from schools across Qatar took part in the programme, which featured eight specialised workshops on environmental protection and sustainability, alongside six field visits showcasing national initiatives and real-world conservation efforts.
Learning Through Experience
The programme combined interactive workshops, scientific activities, volunteer initiatives and educational field trips, giving participants hands-on experience while encouraging environmentally responsible behaviour.
Building Future Environmental Leaders
Executive Director Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri said the initiative reflects the centre's commitment to investing in young people as a foundation for sustainable development. He noted that the programme was designed to transform environmental knowledge into practical, lifelong habits.
Community Partnerships
The centre expanded its collaboration with 21 government, national and private organisations. Nineteen volunteers also helped organise and deliver the programme, highlighting the growing culture of volunteerism and community engagement in environmental initiatives.
