Floods in Nigeria Leave 30 Dead and Over 400000 Displaced

At least 30 people have lost their lives, and over 400,000 have been displaced by floods in northeastern Nigeria. Local officials reported that heavy rains caused severe flooding in Maiduguri, submerging the city, killing 30 people, and displacing more than 400,000 residents. The death toll is expected to increase as rescue efforts continue.

Last week, thousands of homes were submerged as water levels rapidly rose, leading to the cracking of the Alau Dam. The United Nations Refugee Agency in Nigeria stated that the city is experiencing its worst flooding in 30 years.
