Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the results of the government secondary school certificate final exams for the 2023-24 academic year yesterday.

Six students achieved perfect scores, while another six students scored 99.94 percent. Out of the 13,920 students who took the exams, a significant 8,272 students, or 59.4 percent, scored above 70 percent, marking a four percent increase from the previous year.

Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi approved the secondary school certificate results. Following this, a press conference was held at the ministry's headquarters.

The press conference was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Evaluation Affairs Khalid Al Harqan, and Director of Public Relations and Communication Department Maryam Al Muhannadi.

While announcing the results, Khalid Al Harqan highlighted that the passing rate for students in the science track was 85.52 percent for day schools and 20.45 percent for adult education. In the arts and humanities track, the passing rate was 79.64 percent for day schools and 42.21 percent for adult education. The technology track had a passing rate of 75.47 percent, with Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys achieving a 100 percent pass rate. The Religious Institute Secondary School for Boys had a 97.14 percent passing rate. Qatar Technical Secondary School for Boys recorded an 84.14 percent passing rate for day school and 11.76 percent for adult education. Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Secondary School achieved a 100 percent pass rate.

Schools for hearing and speech students had a 60 percent passing rate, while adult education in the parallel track had a 38.36 percent passing rate.

Ibrahim Abdullah Al Muhannadi, Director of the Student Evaluation Department at the MoEHE, described the examination control work for the general secondary certificate as a significant challenge, with 158 supervisors working in two shifts for 12 hours daily across all academic subjects. He noted that the exams took place in 79 centers, with students' answer sheets reviewed by 22 teachers, supervisors, and experts to ensure fairness.

Al Muhannadi emphasized that the exams were developed scientifically to reflect the quality of education and student interests. He thanked the team for their efforts, highlighting the accuracy of the correction process and the high success rate in subjects that had previously received complaints.

He mentioned that Arabic language and physics had high passing rates, with the Arabic language scientific track reaching 98.71 percent and physics at 88.12 percent.

The usual exam duration, which was reduced to an hour and a half during the COVID-19 pandemic, has returned to the standard three hours.

Students and parents can access the results by entering their personal number and date of birth, or personal number and seat number, through the “Maaref” portal for public services of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
