Expo 2023 Doha
As the clock counts down until the much-awaited Expo 2023 Doha in October, the criteria have just been outlined for those who wish to take part in its volunteer programme and be a part of the event's #GreenTeam.
Volunteers who wish to be a part of the event have to meet certain requirements to join the programme. Specified on its official website, these include: the applicant must be at least 18 years old by September 1 this year; the applicant can volunteer 7 to 8 days per month for 6 months; the applicant lives in Qatar; possesses an outgoing and motivated personality.Â
Applications for the volunteer programme will open soon on its official website. Â
The main task of volunteers entails performing various tasks to ensure the best experience for visitors, participants, and media.Â
The website also listed out the several functional areas that volunteers may take-up roles in such as Accreditation, Ceremonies, Ticketing, Events and Cultural Experience, Health and Safety, Language Services, Media and Broadcast, Participant Operations, Protocol Services, Visitor Services and Experience, and Workforce.Â
Though the volunteer programme is open for citizens and residents of Qatar, its official page stated that "overseas applicants will be considered if they are self-funded, eligible to stay in Qatar for six months and can obtain the appropriate visa." Further clarifying that visa, travel, and accomodation are not provided by the Expo 2023.Â
Applicants who have no background experience in volunteering may also apply for the programme. The Expo also mentioned that it welcomes applications from people with disabilities, adding that if the applicant requires assistance from a carer or family member, then the latter should also apply to join the volunteer programme.
The volunteering roles for the Expo 2023 Doha are unpaid. However, volunteers will have access to many benefits such as first-hand experience, networking with professionals from various fields, training, an exclusive uniform, participation certificate, and more.Â
"Volunteers gain satisfaction from contributing to the country and the community," it stated.Â
The Expo 2023 Doha marks as the second-largest event that will be hosted in the country since the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Over 3 million visitors are expected to attend the six-month-long event which will be held at Al Bidda Park from October 2023 to March 2024.Â
The event also coincides with several big events happening in Qatar from October, including the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, Geneva International Motor Show Qatar, Qatar Grand Prix MotoGP, and the AFC Asian Cup.
