Expo 2023 Doha Has Lured In Over 650000 Visitors As Per Official Sources

At Expo 2023 Doha, officials marked the inauguration of the Gulf Engineering Union’s pavilion.

At the international zone of Expo 2023 Doha's horticultural exhibition, the Gulf Engineering Union’s pavilion was inaugurated yesterday. Officials and school students attended the event. Eng. Mohamed Ali Al Khouri, Secretary-General of Expo 2023 Doha, noted during the opening that visitor numbers have exceeded 650,000 since the exhibition's commencement on October 2.

He highlighted how the exhibition engages different sections of society, especially school students who come to explore the Expo's themes of environmental conservation, sustainability, and the country's future plans. Moreover, they have the opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures and customs of participating nations.

Al Khouri emphasized the value of the non-academic knowledge students gain during their visits, emphasizing its lasting impact on their understanding. He also mentioned the Gulf Engineering Union pavilion's structured program for school students, currently hosting three schools daily, with potential plans for increased participation in the future.

The Secretary-General of Expo 2023 Doha highlighted that more than 80% of the pavilions are currently open. He mentioned that unlike a continuous presence throughout the six-month exhibition period, some country pavilions choose to participate for shorter durations, which aligns with past Expo practices.
He emphasized that the exhibition hosts various lectures from local universities and countries presenting working papers. Additionally, seminars are held alongside the main event.

Eng. Khaled Al Nasr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society of Engineers, affirmed that the Gulf Engineering Union's pavilion at Expo comprises four dynamic zones: an engineers' council for exchanging expertise, an entertainment area, a sports zone, and an educational space. He highlighted that the educational zone covers topics such as engineering technologies in agriculture, including smart irrigation, vertical farming, and robotics in farming management.

Al Nasr mentioned the union's contributions to agricultural advancement, expressing their interest in participating not only in Expo but also in the 2022 World Cup. Their event will showcase the role of engineering in sports development, focusing on stadiums and equipment. He hoped for increased school visits to benefit a wider audience.
Naji Abdurabah Al Ajji, Director of the Associations and Private Institutions Department at the Ministry of Social Development and Family, commended the Qatar Society of Engineers for its outstanding performance and activities. He attributed this success to the leadership of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly, recognizing their significant improvement in real-world performance.
