Dubai - Emirates has introduced a new digital payment option that allows customers in the UAE to book flights using cryptocurrency through Crypto.com Pay, marking a significant step in the airline’s push toward modern, tech driven travel experiences.
The new feature enables passengers to pay for tickets in AED using digital assets directly on the Emirates website or mobile app. Travellers can choose Crypto.com Pay at checkout, where the fare is displayed in dirhams and settled instantly using supported cryptocurrencies.
Emirates said the move reflects its commitment to offering flexible, innovative payment solutions that meet the evolving preferences of tech savvy customers. The integration also aligns with Dubai’s broader strategy to advance digital finance and blockchain adoption across key industries.
To use the service, customers simply select Crypto.com Pay during booking, scan the QR code with the Crypto.com App, and complete the transaction using their preferred digital asset. The payment is processed in real time, with no additional conversion steps required from the user.
Industry analysts note that Emirates is among the first major global airlines to adopt cryptocurrency payments at scale, signalling growing acceptance of digital assets in mainstream commerce.
The airline said it will continue exploring advanced technologies to enhance customer experience, including blockchain, metaverse applications, and AI powered services.
