E-Rickshaws provide a stylish, green transportation choice in Lusail

Rickshaws (three-wheelers) seem to be the newest popular means of transportation in Lusail City, transporting passengers between Place Vendome, Lusail Marina Food Arena, and Katara Towers.

According to an employee, at least five electric rickshaws have been traveling between the three sites since July and are normally stationed at the I Love Lusail monument, the Food Arena, and Place Vendome.

He said the demand for rickshaw rides keeps rising, especially during the weekend, when families and children enjoy strolling around the region. It operates from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. daily.

The eco-friendly e-rickshaws, which can also be controlled manually by pedaling, travel at speeds ranging from 15kmph to 23kmph. They allow tourists to experience the three main locations in a convenient manner.

It was learned that a 15-20 minute ride costs QR60. Each rickshaw may accommodate up to four passengers, including the driver.

The driver said, "We try not to go fast for the safety of everyone as there are also a lot of people along the way, and we want them to enjoy the ride."

There are always at least two rickshaws at Place Vendome station, two more in the Food Arena, and one at the I Love Lusail 'station', they are also accessible in case of an emergency.

A rickshaw can operate for at least seven hours on a six-hour charge, but "most of the time," the driver explained, "we just charge it for an hour or two because we have too many passengers."

Passengers, according to the driver, have been enjoying the excursions, which allow them to relax, listen to Qatari music, and capture the lovely environment.

Some visitors hope that the number of eco - friendly vehicles, such as rickshaws, will increase in Qatar, especially in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, providing a convenient service to more people who want to visit places and promoting the country's tourism, food and beverage, and retail sectors.

The demand for such modes of transportation is expected to increase further during the colder months, attracting both local and international visitors.
An employee of a food outlet at the Lusail Marina Food Arena stated that many of their customers took a rickshaw ride from Place Vendome.

He added, "With these rickshaws, we expect the number of customers to increase more in the coming weeks once the temperatures start to go down. We have seen that a lot of people love to roam around in these vehicles, which we really find very attractive." 
With Lusail rising as a tourism hotspot in Qatar, this new method of transportation is likely to draw more visitors in the coming days, providing people with yet another incentive to visit the location.
