Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter grace Qatar's November skies

The Qatar Calendar House has announced that during November 2023, residents of Qatar will have the opportunity to observe four planets of the solar system: Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter. The evening sky will feature Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter, while Venus will be visible in the dawn sky.

Dr. Bashir Marzouq, an astronomer at the Qatari Calendar House, explained that on the morning of November 9, 2023, Venus and the Moon will be exceptionally close, appearing just one arc degree apart in the eastern horizon of Qatar's sky, visible from shortly after Venus rises at 2:23 pm until before sunrise.

On November 14, 2023, the smallest planet in the solar system, Mercury, will be near the crescent moon, offering a stunning celestial display. Residents of Qatar can witness the crescent moon and Mercury together in the western sky after sunset at 4:47 pm, even before the crescent moon sets at 5:26 pm, local Doha time.

Moving to November 20, 2023, Saturn will be positioned 2.7 arc degrees north of the moon, visible above the southern horizon in the evening sky. Qatar's residents can enjoy the sight of the moon and Saturn together from 4:45 pm until Saturn sets at 11:27 pm, local Doha time.

On November 25, 2023, the giant planet Jupiter will join the moon, creating an impressive celestial spectacle. Qatar's residents can observe the moon and Jupiter together in the eastern sky after sunset at 4:44 pm, with Jupiter setting at 4:05 am the following day, local Doha time.
