Expo 2023 Doha
With less than a month to go, Commissioner Generals from countries participating in Expo 2023 Doha gathered on Sunday to discuss cooperation and finalize preparations for this landmark international event.
The meeting highlighted the commitment of participants from across the globe to ensure the success of the first A1 horticultural exhibition held in the MENA region.
Discussions at the meeting focused on fostering an environment of collaboration and partnership ahead of the awaited Expo 2023 Doha. Participants also addressed all organizational aspects, including zone operation and site service, sponsorship activation, volunteer programs, and sustainability initiatives.
HE Expo 2023 Doha Commissioner General Ambassador Bader bin Omar Al Dafa emphasized the importance of the International Participants Meeting, noting that Expo 2023 Doha is an unprecedented opportunity for countries around the world to showcase their creativity, agricultural and horticultural practices, culture, and heritage, as well as their collective commitment to deliver a successful event that will leave a lasting impact on global environmental cooperation.
In his statements to the press, he explained that this meeting, attended by commissioners from 46 participating countries, discussed the organizational and logistical measures of the exhibition.
Additionally, the commissioners visited the site and learned about Qatar's efforts in preparation for hosting one of the most significant editions of the Horticultural Expo. He noted that the number of participants in the exhibition has reached 80 countries, along with eight international organizations. He explained that the participants will present their best practices in modern agriculture technologies, water extraction, and desalination. He called upon everyone to seize this opportunity and participate in this global event.
HE Expo 2023 Doha Commissioner General stated that during the exhibition period, the city of Doha will transform into a comprehensive city on various fronts. He confirmed the completion of preparations for the activities at the exhibition site while participating countries are finalizing the construction of their pavilions to be fully ready by October 2nd.
Secretary-General of Expo 2023 Doha, Eng. Mohamed Ali Al Khouri said that this exhibition underscores Qatar's commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. He added that Qatar welcomes its guests and visitors to discuss and propose innovative solutions to address the major environmental challenges facing the region and the world today. He explained that Qatar, through hosting Expo 2023 Doha, aims to promote meaningful dialogue on environmental issues and enhance international partnerships within the framework of our unity and shared commitment to building a greener world.
He further emphasized in his speech during the meeting that international participation is the best evidence of the commitment of all participants from around the world to ensure the success of the first Horticultural Expo, which is taking place in a desert climate in the Gulf and North Africa. He highlighted that the meeting with the General Commissioners of the participating countries is a crucial step in completing the final preparations for the anticipated global event.
Secretary-General of Expo 2023 Doha invited audiences from various countries worldwide to familiarize themselves with the four main themes addressed by the exhibition: Modern Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, Environmental Awareness, and Sustainability, through a six-month series of unique events and promotional activities.
Secretary-General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Dimitri Kerkentzes, expressed anticipation for the upcoming meeting of all countries at Expo 2023 Doha Horticultural, which is just three weeks away. He urged countries to increase their efforts and collaborate to address climate change.
During his speech at the meeting, he voiced deep appreciation for the State of Qatar's tremendous efforts in organizing this historic event and welcoming participants from around the world. He also underscored the significance of hosting the exhibition in a desert environment to highlight the importance of greening deserts for a healthier environment.
The BIE Secretary-General stressed the importance of using education to raise awareness about environmental conservation and encouraged cooperation among various entities to offer a wide range of solutions and ideas to achieve numerous environmental goals. He emphasized that Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha should be regarded as a platform for sharing information, experiences, and best practices in this field.
Secretary-General of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), Tim Briercliffe, said that the ongoing climate change necessitates adaptation and coexistence. He highlighted the need to seek solutions that rejuvenate the world. He pointed out the vital role of trees, plants, and flowers in purifying the air, preventing floods, mitigating climate change impacts, and enhancing human health.
In his address during the meeting, he emphasized that Horticultural Expo 2023 presents a significant opportunity for countries worldwide to convene and discover green solutions. He expressed the hope that through this exhibition, they could contribute to solving various issues in this field and envision a brighter future.
The attendees also conducted a site visit to Expo 2023 Doha, allowing them to witness firsthand the remarkable progress and facilities that will welcome millions of visitors from around the globe.
With the theme "Green Desert, Better Environment," Expo 2023 Doha will address four key themes: Modern Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, Environmental Awareness, and Sustainability through unique exhibitions, events, and activations that will be held over six months.
