Attorneys Admission Committee Convenes Under Minister of Justice Chairmanship

Doha - Qatar's Attorneys' Admission Committee convened today under the chairmanship of HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi to work through a packed agenda covering lawyer registrations, training approvals, and broader reforms to the legal profession.

During the session, three new lawyers officially took the legal oath after completing their required training period, formally joining the ranks of Qatar's practicing legal community.

The committee also worked through a range of applications, including requests from professionals with equivalent experience seeking to register in the roll of practicing lawyers, along with applications from trainee lawyers looking to be added to the trainee lawyers' roll. Separately, three candidates asked the committee to sign off on the completion of their training so they could qualify to practice law.

In further administrative action, the committee approved the transfer of two lawyers from the non-practicing roll to the practicing roll, and reviewed a batch of applications from lawyers seeking to move into the roll of practicing lawyers authorized to appear before the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation.

Beyond individual registrations, the committee tackled several regulatory matters concerning the legal profession more broadly. This included going over reports submitted by its subcommittees, as well as discussing a proposed memorandum outlining how the legal oath should be administered to non-Qatari lawyers practicing in the country.

Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Al Mohannadi reaffirmed the Ministry of Justice's ongoing commitment to advancing the legal profession in Qatar. He pointed to continued efforts to build up qualified national legal talent and to strengthen the legislative and institutional framework that supports lawyers in carrying out their work efficiently and professionally. He tied these efforts directly to the broader goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the objectives set out in the Third National Development Strategy.
